Stupendous App

Stone cold brilliant. Been using it to create midi chords for my recordings since '20. The ability to drag and drop a midi file of those chords with proper timing directly into one's DAW is incredible. It's where I begin all recodings. I record a scratch guitar/vocal to a click track, create the Suggester file, drag it into Logic, then create a marker track in Logic identifying verse, chorus, bridge, turnarounds, etc., then duplicate that as an arrangement track, then create a "Drummer" track with Logic's built-in capability. Then I can duplicate and manipulate those midi track to create pads, string parts, etc. I even use the midi tracks to create piano or organ, rhodes, etc., tracks with EZKeys. Suggester's Chord Detector is an invaluable aid for guitarists to figure out the names of chords they play that they do not know names for. Worth every penny.

Awesome, yes, that’s a great way to use Suggester2! I’m glad you like it! :)

Very impressed

One of the few theory applications to do it right. I love writing progressions on this.

The voicing alteration page for the guitar alone can justify the $20 upgrade price.

The chord suggestion feature shows all of the chords that fit within the scale you have selected. It is helpful, but I wish there was an additional feature that gave actual suggestions (similar to what the TONALY app or Scaler 2 VST does). If this app had something like that, it was be the end-all solution for writing chord progressions.

Nice upgrade but confusing price structure

I loved Suggester and I can tell V2 offers more. However, I have no idea what I should buy. I have a policy that any subscription based app should include making me coffee in the morning and empty the kitty litter to be worth paying a monthly tax.
I don’t have a Mac, just an iPad Pro and an iPhone 15 pro max (or max pro, whatever).
What should I buy to get all the features without paying monthly? It looks like that’s an option but I don’t want to buy too much or too little and it’s not clear which is which.
That aside, the app is great. I guess I am using the free version?
If so, it’s pretty nifty even as it is (for those that can play piano, which I can).
The advantage of a chord app like Suggester 2 is mental bandwidth. I can play any progression in any key, yet if I come across something I like, it’s like writing in the sand. The app allows experimentation without fear of losing inspiration.

I do t know if S2 allows chord input from an external MIDI keyboard. If it does, then I’ll figure out the pricing and I’ll buy it. But I need to figure out what a “key” is and why each has two prices.

Actually, I am thinking of buying a Mac Mini, so maybe I should wait and get the key for both, assuming I got the pricing scheme right.

Hi! Yes, all these questions are answered inside the app. Look at the information displayed in the Keys page, which you can access easily by tapping Learn More. You can also access it from the Application Settings. There are one-time purchases available, which unlock all features permanently. This is what I recommend. A subscription is also available if that’s what you prefer. Please contact support if you have specific questions, I will be glad to answer them. Thanks!
